With reference to your letter of the 4th February 1896, No.22325/95, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that My Lords accept the terms on which Mr Secretary Chamberlain will abandon the scheme for the extension of the Praya Road in front of the Dockyard at Hong Kong, subject to the concurrence of the War Office in cases where their property is affected, and a communication will be made to the Secretary of State for War as to surrendering any land that may be necessary for widening the existing road to 75 feet and also with reference to the transfer of the Commissariat Buildings to the Admiralty.
Under the scheme for extending the Dockyard, the property belonging to Mr Sharp has to be acquired, and the lowest price that he will accept for the land and buildings is £50,000.
